Prior to being named editorial editor,Jackson, for nine months, was senior editor for business, federal and state news at the AJC. He was hired by the AJC in April 2008 as an editorial writer covering business and the economy.
Until March 2008, he was assistant managing editor/business of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He also worked there as Sunday editor and suburban editor. Jackson joined the Post-Dispatch in 1987 as a general assignment reporter, covering events ranging from presidential campaigns to a Ku Klux Klan rally. His work earned him local, state and national journalism awards.
Jacksonbegan his career as a reporter at the Wilkes-Barre Times Leader and also worked at the old Kansas City Times. He first entered a newsroom as an intern at the old St. Louis Globe-Democrat.
Jackson holds an MBA degree with majors in marketing and management/competitive strategy from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communications/journalism from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville, with minors in television-radio and business administration.
